Omakase at Scotts Square

Kakushin sits at 6 Scotts Road, #02-03 Scotts Square, Singapore 228209 — in the Orchard / Scotts dining belt, a short walk from Orchard MRT.

Kakushin (革新) means innovation in Japanese. The restaurant is built around a seasonal omakase: a curated progression that follows what is finest from Japan right now, rather than a fixed year-round script.

Open daily for lunch and dinner:

  • Lunch: Monday–Sunday, 11:30am–3pm

  • Dinner: Monday–Sunday from 6pm, kitchen last orders 9:30pm

Last orders are at 2:30pm for lunch and 9:30pm for dinner. Open every day except the first and second day of Chinese Lunar New Year. Seating is limited. During our limited-time 4th Anniversary Omakase Free Flow (daily lunch and dinner, from 3 August; request code OmaFreeFlow when booking), please book at least a week ahead. Free Flow is not available on the Raito course.

What makes Kakushin’s approach different

Kakushin is a full-service modern omakase in Orchard, not a small traditional sushiya counter.

Sushi is one part of a broader progression that can include seasonal starters, sashimi or carpaccio, warm dishes, nigiri, and a signature finish — closer to a contemporary tasting menu than an all-nigiri Edomae counter.

The kitchen’s background includes years at acclaimed Japanese restaurants such as Tatsu Sushi, Tenmasa, Gonpachi, and Akashi. House details include ponzu and shoyu aged seven days, and wagyu prepared with long sous-vide technique (about 30 hours), as described on the official site.

Seasonal ingredients and house craft

Catch of the day. Seafood is sourced directly from Toyosu Market and prepared the same day, alongside other seasonal produce from Japan.

Fish is flown in by air freight several times a week except Mondays, mostly on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Seasonal omakase. Each course is a response to what is at its peak — the menu shifts with Japan’s seasons.

Chef Yan. Our current chef has more than three decades of experience as an omakase chef.

House craft. Our ponzu and shoyu are aged seven days, and our wagyu is sous-vide for about 30 hours.
